Events

Tips on Bulb Planting: 9:30 a.m. Aug. 4. Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36. The Oklahoma Gardeners Association will present Linda Vater, local garden blogger. Free and open to the public.

Weekly Walk-Ups: 10 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday through Aug. 13. Children’s Garden Porch, Myriad Botanical Garden, 301 W Reno Ave. Suggested donation: $2 per child. Drop in to explore the world of plants. Weekly WalkUp activity (see types of activities at myriadgardens.org), play in Thunder Fountain, have a picnic, or ride Mo’s Carousel (noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday; noon to 8 p.m. Friday). BUG OUT! 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 11. Children’s Garden and Crystal Bridge South Lobby, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W Reno Ave. Cost: $5 members, $7 nonmembers. All ages welcome. Learn about all the benefits bugs can bring to your garden and the world. Create a bug craft, learn to identify beneficial garden bugs and check out the OSU Insect Adventure to see bugs up close. Sponsored by Goldfish Swim School.

Hosta Care and Selection: 10 a.m. Sept. 11. Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36. Fran Mummery, a member of the Oklahoma Gardeners Association, will present the free program. Register at the Will Rogers Gardens page at okc.gov.

Herbal Teas: 10 a.m. Oct. 16. Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36. Monica Arndt, a member of the Oklahoma Gardeners Association, will present the free program. Attendees will blend teas to take home. Register at the Will Rogers Gardens page at okc.gov.

Our Front Yard Garden & Other Adventures: 7 p.m. Friday (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). Oklahoma Organic Gardening Association presents Professor Haldor Howard. Guided Walking Tour: 10-11 a.m. July 31, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W Reno Ave. Free. Meet in South Lobby Visitor Center. Geared toward adults; children and leashed dogs welcome. Expand your knowledge of Oklahoma plants and find inspiration for your own garden.

Growing Cool Season Vegetables in Your Fall Garden: 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 7. Terrace Room, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W Reno Ave. Cost: members $15, nonmembers $18. Lori Coats of My Raggedy Herbs will talk about cool-season greens, garlics and root vegetables. Each participant will learn tips for growing and harvesting in the fall and will head home with seeds for three fall crops. Register by Aug. 3 at myriadgardens.org.

Peggy Turner, Oklahoma County Master Gardener, will teach how to build a waystation, including planning and design, sourcing host and nectar plants, garden maintenance, and certification. Participants will head home with one host plant and one nectar plant. Register by Aug. 31 at myriadgardens.org.
