PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government has decided to reopen government, government-aided and private schools — from Class 1 to Class 12 — on January 4, said agriculture minister R Kamalakannan.
Speaking to reporters in the presence of secretary (education) A Anbarasu and director (school education) P T Rudra Goud on Wednesday, the minister said the schools would function from 10am to 1pm.
He said the schools would function full day from January 18. Presently, classes are held for students from classes IX to XII on alternate days with 50% attendance.
He said colleges would reopen only for the research scholars, final year postgraduate and undergraduate students starting Thursday.
He said the government had made necessary arrangements to ensure that the teaching, non-teaching faculty members and students follow the standard operating procedures while attending schools and colleges.
